TEACHING

I began my research career trying to understand the kinds of teaching practices that are both developmentally appropriate and optimally motivating for young people during adolescence. I had no idea how difficult it was to implement those theoretical ideas and empirically-validated principles within the context of my own pedagogy in the college classroom until I started teaching. The task of become a teacher has been one of my greatest challenges, and also one of the greatest labors of love in my professional life.
